Who Needs the THINKCAR SD4?

The newly released THINKCAR SD4 is a four-system diagnostic scanner designed for both DIY users and professional mechanics. It supports comprehensive diagnostics for the Engine, ABS, SRS, and Automatic Transmission (AT) systems. Beyond basic scanning, it also offers three user-selectable reset functions at no extra cost.

Four-System Diagnostic Capabilities

Engine System

This diagnostic tool helps detect issues related to engine ignition, fuel injection, air-fuel ratio, and exhaust emissions. By analyzing these parameters, it enhances vehicle performance, improves fuel efficiency, and reduces harmful emissions.

Transmission System

If your vehicle experiences slipping gears or difficulty shifting, the SD4 can identify underlying problems by reading transmission system codes or monitoring live data to assess overall health—ensuring safer driving conditions.

ABS System

The scanner reads and clears Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), performs operational tests, and turns off the ABS warning light to confirm proper system functionality.

SRS Airbag System

The Safety Restraint System (SRS), composed of impact sensors, a control module, and airbags, is thoroughly checked by this device. It reads and clears fault codes in the SRS system and deactivates the airbag warning light to ensure safe and reliable operation.

28 Advanced Reset Functions

1. Oil Reset

After maintenance, reset the mileage or driving time to zero to turn off the maintenance reminder light and begin a new service cycle.

2. Electronic Throttle Adaptation

Initializes the throttle actuator via the car’s decoder, resetting the ECU’s learning value to its default state for more precise throttle control and optimized air intake.

3. Steering Angle Reset

After replacing steering components (e.g., angle sensor, gearbox, tie rods), performing wheel alignment, or repairing the chassis, this function recalibrates the steering angle using the straight-ahead position as a reference point.

4. Battery Matching

Resets the vehicle’s battery monitoring unit, clearing previous low-battery fault data and completing battery registration.

5. ABS Bleeding

Essential after replacing ABS components (e.g., pump, master cylinder, brake lines), this function removes air from the brake system to restore ABS sensitivity and performance.

6. Brake Pad Reset

After replacing worn brake pads that triggered a sensor alert, this reset clears the warning signal to prevent false alarms.

7. DPF Regeneration

Cleans particulate matter (PM) from the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) through controlled high-temperature combustion, maintaining optimal filter efficiency.

8. Gear Learning

Allows the ECU to learn crankshaft gear tolerances for accurate misfire detection. Required after replacing the ECU, crankshaft sensor, or flywheel—or when DTC P1336 ("gear not learned") appears.

9. IMMO Service

Re-matches authorized keys to the vehicle’s immobilizer system after replacing components like the ignition switch, ECU, BCM, or key fob battery.

10. Injector Coding

Writes or updates individual injector codes in the ECU to ensure precise fuel delivery per cylinder—necessary after replacing injectors or the ECU.

11. TPMS Reset

Resets the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) after correcting low pressure, replacing tires, sensors, or performing related maintenance, turning off the TPMS warning light.

12. Suspension Matching

Calibrates body height sensors in air suspension systems after sensor or control module replacement, or if ride height is inaccurate.

13. AFS Reset

Initializes the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), which adjusts headlamp angle and activation based on ambient light, speed, and vehicle posture.

14. A/T Learning

Performs automatic transmission self-learning to refine shift quality—especially useful after repairs, disassembly, or power loss that caused harsh or delayed shifts.

15. Sunroof Initialization

Configures sunroof features such as rain-closing, memory positions, tilt/slide settings, and external temperature thresholds.

16. EGR Adaptation

Re-learns the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve position after cleaning or replacement to ensure proper emissions control.

17. ODO Reset

a) Adjusts odometer mileage via the diagnostic computer to reflect actual distance traveled.
b) Required when incorrect mileage results from a faulty speed sensor or odometer malfunction after repair.

18. Airbag Reset

Clears collision-related fault data from the airbag module after deployment, turning off the warning light and allowing continued use of the original airbag computer without replacement.

19. Transport Mode

Deactivates factory transport mode—which limits speed, disables remote key functions, and suppresses network wake-up—to restore full vehicle functionality.

20. A/F Reset

Resets or re-learns Air/Fuel ratio parameters for optimal engine combustion and emissions performance.

Advanced Reset & Calibration Functions

21. Stop/Start Reset
    This function is used to open or close the automatic start-stop function via setting the hidden function in ECU (provided that the vehicle has a hidden function and is supported by hardware).
22. NOx Sensor Reset
    The NOx sensor is a sensor used to detect the content of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in engine exhaust. If the NOx fault is re-initialized and the NOx catalytic converter is replaced, it is necessary to reset the catalytic converter learned value stored in the engine ECU.
23. AdBlue Reset (Diesel Engine Exhaust Gas Filter)
    After the diesel exhaust treatment fluid (car urea) is replaced or filled up, a urea reset operation is required.
24. Seat Calibration
    This function is applied to match the seats with memory function that are replaced and repaired.
25. Coolant Bleeding
    Use this function to activate the electronic water pump before venting the cooling system.
26. Tyre Reset
    This function is used to set the size parameters of the modified or replaced tire.
27. Windows Calibration
    This feature is designed to perform door window matching to recover ECU initial memory, and restore the automatic ascending and descending function of the power window.
28. Language Change
    This function is used to change the system language of the vehicle central control panel.
